Waterford Pétanque Club Announces Major Expansion for 2026 Viking Open Triples
Following the success of last year’s Viking Open Triples, Waterford Pétanque Club has announced an exciting new partnership with Waterford City Rugby Club to host the 2026 edition of the event.
The tournament will take place on the rugby club’s grounds, where a gravel-based car park will be transformed into a 45-piste pétanque arena—making it one of the largest tournament setups ever seen in Ireland. The venue offers excellent facilities, including ample free parking, toilets, and a fully equipped clubhouse, ensuring players and spectators enjoy a comfortable and professional environment.
The Viking Open Triples has quickly become one of Ireland’s premier pétanque events, attracting players from across the country and beyond. The 2026 tournament promises to be the biggest yet, providing a perfect opportunity for Waterford to showcase pétanque on a grand scale.
Registrations will open soon, with the event set to take place on April 11th, 2026. Waterford Pétanque Club looks forward to welcoming teams for what promises to be another memorable and competitive Viking Open.
